The typical expectations placed on adult learners are quite high. There is an assumption that they possess inherent focus, motivation, and self-direction. However, it is important to recognize that despite this assumption, many adult students require substantial support and guidance, and it is not sufficient to merely instruct them to pursue their degrees through independent reading.

Several adults are re-entering the classroom following a three, five or even a ten-year break! Many of them feel anxious, uncertain, and concerned. Some are unfamiliar with technology and are relatively new to higher-level studies. Instructing them to read and finish an assignment with minimal support only adds to their apprehension.
